What a Weekend Part 2

By Paul Anthony

Now we know how the beginning of the weekend started, let’s talk about how the weekend ended. I have been a big Game of Thrones fan and last’s Sunday night episode was the battle of the living vs the dead, the Night king vs Jon Snow and his army at Winterfell and did it leave up to the hype of waiting so many years? I like to think so, it was the first long episode of the short and final season. If I had to give this episode a good 4.5 stars out of 5 stars. The action from what you could see was there. The moments you thought your favorite characters were going to die were there and of course the lost of some characters. Then the ending was as awesome as you can get and yes, this blog contains spoilers. If you are living under the rock build up was aiming for Jon and the Night King to go one on one but in stead it was Arya Stark that took on the Night King and just when you thought she was going to die she came through and killed the Night King. Theon Greyjoy’s story finally came to an end. He was task with protecting Bran from The Night King which he showed his bad ass skills and protected Bran until the Night King himself showed up and made quick work of him but not before Bran thanked him and told him he was good man. We know his story was dark one after season one but as dark as it became and the pain he went through with Ramsey, he slowly started to redeem himself. I never seen such a character arc like his besides Darth Vader himself in some ways they are same person.

The Red Witch too fulfilled her prophecy and passed away after the battle was won, she removed her necklace, she then faded into the light. The Dragons had there moment in the spotlight as well, they roamed the sky and took on each other, seemed like each dragon took a beating but they all survived except when the Night King died then his dragon went with him.

However, the hardest thing about this episode was the lightening, they made the episode dark which was by design however fans didn’t like it. Sure, we could have just fixed the lightening on our screens to see better but we were so into the episode that we did not want to miss beat of what was happening.

The ratings were off the chart with this as well in all 17.8 million people watched this episode. Which is pretty good number for episode number three of six and first of the longer episodes we are expected to get. Now this war is over they will be moving towards the war to end all wars and finally someone will take the throne for good, well at least in the end of series! We got to see what Sunday will bring us!

Oh Roseanne

Recently a hit show made a comeback and a surprise to me, the fans were glad it came back. now i will be the first one to admit that I haven’t had a chance to watch it and then before I realize the season was and now the show was canceled just weeks after it got renew for what would have been a 11th season now won’t happen, at least not for next season or a few years. So what caused this cancellation, well look no further then the lead actor herself Roseanne Barr and her tweet that were deemed racist.

I will admit i don’t know who she was talking about because i don’t like getting into Politics, I was told she was worked with the former president. The tweet described this lady as child from the planet of the apes and there you have it the word Ape was used to describe an African- American woman and now she just lost her show which was huge hit. ABC soon as it got word and saw the tweet cancel the show as fast as they could and it gets worse. Roseanne claimed the tweet was two am and she was on Ambien which caused her to tweet a terrible joke. which many responded by saying that bad taste in humor wasn’t a side affect from taking Ambien including the makers themselves.

Now I don’t believe she is a racist or anything like that, i do believe she was truly stupid for cracking a joke like, at least in this era where we are getting soft with the jokes and other things we say and as an adult she should have known better. But let’s look at the bigger picture of her career from her stand up comedy days, this is how she made a living and rose to fame and even her show would make jokes and yet we laughed and now its different. Times  have changed but she did not. Let’s look at other things she did that stupid, the biggest one came from a Cub’s baseball game when she sang or better way of describing it was attempting to sing the Star-Spangled Banner. to this day watching the video will give you chills.

Now there been a small rumor that another station or stations might want to get the show and bring it back for its 11th season but as of right now I would take that with a grain of salt. Even if the show would come back, some of the cast members don’t want to come back and be around her, still nothing can confirm this but I can believe the cast is truly made at her because she caused them their jobs. This might be the end and i hate to see the show end because something that the show had no part in but we can thank her for this series ending.

A Long Wait

By Paul Anthony

Last Sunday was epic if you’re a Game of Thrones fan, we saw the end of season seven with the ice dragon. Season seven was the first season to be shorten and next season which is at this point being billed as the finale season, though at times I have been questioning that, but I will save that for another blog. Now with this season in the books we were left craving for more but the biggest question we have is when will we get more? This has been a topic of great debate for roughly a year now. We don’t have an official answer just yet but it’s becoming increasingly clear, so I hate to bring everyone bad news but it may be close to 16 months before we see a new episode.

We know the scripts have been written or at least the hackers believe they released the scripts to season eight though there is nothing to confirm these leaks are the scripts but we do know they haven’t begun to film a single episode yet and in the past, film the next well one season is airing. However, this is not the case. Filming is scheduled to begin in October and is expected to last until August which is a good amount of time, this all but confirms that the episodes in season eight will be longer than usually. The rumor right now is each episode would be around two hours which would explain the ten months of filming. The sad part is that the next stage is post production which could take a few months. If you’re doing the math right we are basically in December at this point and not a single episode has aired yet, which means this 16-month gap that’s been around for some time now, is basically true.

Now we have wonder why the long gap like that? Well I have a few ideas but remember they are just ideas. I believe HBO like any other studio or channel wants to drag this out, it’s been no secret that they wanted to this show to be ten seasons long with each season having ten episodes, they realize that wasn’t going to happen because the truth is they don’t have enough material to do so, well at least not to enough without dragging it out.

Now my other idea is that maybe season 8 isn’t the end, just the end for now, there been rumors of spin offs but I am referring to that fact that there are two more books on their way with each book rumored to be 1500 pages long, I would think that would be plenty of material for them to get to ten seasons. The problem is we have no clue on when these books will happen, after all writing 1500-page book can take years let alone write two of them.

I don’t know what will happen in season 8 but I can tell you this much I am dying to see it just as much as you are, but like you I have wait it out, bring on WestWorld.
