Here we are about to talk about a movie that just couldn’t get released. The Movie kept getting pushed back and back. This film was suppose to come out in August of 2019 but then got pushed to January of 2020 then to March then to April but then this virus happened and it seemed like this film was doomed but then Amazon bought the rights to the film so the move goers could see this film and the film got a home release. The question I always have is if this film was released how much would it make? Truth is the budget was a low 18 million for this comedy and it did gross when it could overseas a nice 5.5 million. Comparing this film with Dave Bautista other film Stuber I would ball park around 30 million. Now Stuber was considered a failure with being an summer time film, which could have been the reason why this film was moved out of the summer. So how good was this film? Well the truth be told this film was on par with Stuber, except this was more aimed at families rather than just adults, so if you liked that film than you will like this film as well.
The film revolves around JJ who was a former Special Forces soldier who became a spy for the CIA. It is clear that though he was a great soldier, he not a good spy. We seen this in the opening scenes when he blurs out information that he didn’t receive unless he was a spy. The one thing he can do is fight and blow stuff up which is how he makes it out a live. After returning to the headquarters and it seems like he did a good thing he is told by his boss that though he did good with fighting , he didn’t get any information that was truly needed and is told that maybe being an spy just not for him but is given a easy mission in Chicago with his new partner. His Mission is to watch a family of a criminal they have their eye on, simple enough right? Soon as they get to Chicago he comes across the niece of the Criminal and his cover is blown but she manages to blackmail him as long as he serves a father figure and teach her how to become a spy. The adventures that he does with the girl brings the laughs of course and they even save the day together and when the mission is over, he decides to return to Chicago to live with her and her mother who he began to have feelings for towards the end of the film.
This film had some cheap laughs but you couldn’t figure out who the audience should be because it wasn’t meant for kids but wasn’t meant for adults either. Some things wee just too out of place for me to really like but enjoyed Bautista and glad to see he is growing as an actor. In the end I am giving this film an C for a grade. It felt average to me and honestly can’t say more about it.

I make it no secret that, I don’t like watching cartoon movies in the theater however I might have found the film that could change my mind but now we may never know because of the situation that the world is in with this virus. We all grew up loving Scooby- Doo and this brought back some great Saturday memories watching the dog and his gang solving scary mysteries, The live action movies were cute as well. Scoob! serves as a reboot of sorts because we meet the gang when they are young and learn how the group came to be! The movie sounds like it will be cute as well but the movie is far from perfect though.
We first meet Scooby-Doo who is a puppy that is living on the streets. who takes a piece of meat from a butcher. Not long after that the cops start to chase him and that’s when we meet Shaggy who is walking by himself trying to find friends but has no luck because he thinks he is an outcast. By pure luck the two run into each other and Shaggy even protects him from the cops and even takes him home where they begin their friendship. It’s not until Halloween that we meet Fred, Daphne, Velma. Who recues the two from bullies but their candy gets thrown into a old house that everyone believes to be haunted. Led by Fred they go into the house and of course there is an ghost but they quickly solve that problem and prove that there is no such thing as ghost! The gang then becomes Mystery INC. Ten years later the gang wants to grow but requires money that they don’t have in which they bring in an investor who is none other than Simon Cowell who basically says he will only invest in the company if they drop Scoob and Shaggy from the gang because they are dead weight. Before Fred can answer the two storm off. they decide to go bowling and get attacked by small robots but is recused by the blue falcon well the son of Blue falcon because his dad retired. The gang learns their whereabouts and set off to find them. Scoob and Shaggy and the blue Falcon starts to be attacked by the main Villain Dick Dastardly who wants Scooby because he is the last relative of Peritas who was the dog of Alexander the great. If Dick gets Scooby, he is able to unlock a portal that has tons of gold though he makes up a sad excuse to stop everyone from catching him. In the end the gang becomes reunited to stop him for good and Simon changes his mind about Shaggy and Scooby because he learns they are heart of Mystery INC.
Let me start with the pros of this film, I did enjoy the comedy aspect of it and the music and the touching story of how everyone in the group serves a purpose even if other don’t think so. The cons, Over the top mystery, we all seen the show and this case was just way too much for a first film, then having a bunch of cameos of the other cartoons. the Movie didn’t need both of those elements and I believed it hurt the film more than anything. In The end though this film could have been better but instead it was just average but still i would say watch it! I am giving this film an C for a rating!

Okay the title says it all but I am going to recap because it has been a while. For starters let’s go back to last August when the film Fast and Furious Presents Hobbs and Shaw came out. Now I am not the biggest fan of spinoffs because at times they are just not needed, not every character needs a spin off to tell a story. I think we can all agree with that. Anyway, here we are dealing with a spinoff, with two characters who have become popular in a franchise because of who plays them. Still I had no interest in seeing the film, so I did a mock review which I based everything on trailers and word of mouth and I ended up giving the film a D for a grade and said that I wouldn’t give it a higher grade then that. So I finally I had time to watch it because I wondered if I had changed my mind. I will give my grade at the end of the blog like always. The film however proved to be a hit because it grossed 760.0 million off a of a budget of 200 million, once again you wanted the gross to be higher but you will take the victory and this film gave us some good feuds with the cast of the franchise as well. Because of the money that the film made, there will be a sequel down the road.
The plot is pretty much what we came to expect from a Fast and Furious film. Hobbs and Shaw are recruited by the CIA to stop a terrorist group who basically made technology to enhance humans to make them cyborgs of sorts and kill off the weaker humans with a virus, the lead villain who is played by Idris Elba is the first of his kind and proves to be a much bigger threat to Hobbs and Shaw. At this point Shaw’s sister Hattie implants the virus in her to stop if from getting into the bad guys hands. The gang goes a few rounds with the villains until they win with some over the top action and removes the virus from Hattie and gives it to CIA which they put it in lockdown. Hobbs returns home and shows his family his daughter and everyone is reunited because Hobbs at some point had beef with his family.
The biggest problem I had with this film was it is part of the Fast and Furious, they failed to explain why the rest of the team wasn’t around because you know the team always around to save the world. With a spin off comes adding a story to the characters that messes up the backstory that we already know, like Hobbs family history or Shaw’s history and how he’s actually a good guy and everything like that and of course Shaw has a baby sister who we never knew about and as for Owen they barely mention anything about him even in flashback scenes. Here are some of the things that I did like about the film, the comedy and action with The Rock and Jason Statham then add in cameos from Ryan Reynolds and Kevin Hart was a good touch, no doubt having the four of these guys as leads in a film would be a hit. In the end I am giving it a higher grade, It’s going from a D to an C and if you want good laugh with action sure this could be your film to watch.

I want to make one thing clear and that is that I didn’t pick this movie as a random movie to review and talk about no. I picked this movie to review because of the unsettling times we are in. We have this whole virus thing going around but even more importantly we have people getting killed and turning us away from each other. One of things that actually brings us together is sports. We know sports aren’t going on right now when we need them the most but I decided look for a good film that through these troubling times could help us to see that we are one and united we should stand. In our country’s history we have seen this happen from time to time. the film I have decided to review is one of my favorites and that Film is called Remember The Titans. The film was released back in 2000 and starred Denzel Washington and Will Patton as football coaches. The movie is regarded as one of the best football films of all time. The film had a budget of just 30 million and a legacy that still stands after nearly twenty years after it was released.
The Movie starts ins 1981 and we see everyone attending a funeral but we don’t know whose, at that point we go back to 1971 where the town of Alexandria Virginia where a new school is formed from ending segregation. But there is hatred of course from both sides, no one is getting along there we meet Coach Yoast who is head coach of the team but also a future state hall of famer. Herman Boone arrives to be a coach under Yoast but the board voted him the head coach to make things look good which Boone felt unfair to Yoast until he sees how much this means to the black community, at that point Boone wants Yoast to join the team under him but Yoast pride as being an head coach prevents him until the players inform him if he doesn’t coach then they will quit the team which Yoast doesn’t want them to lose scholarships because of this matter. During a team meeting Boone introduces himself to the black players which they quickly learn he’s all about winning and nothing else. The meeting is interrupted by Yoast and the white players and tell Boone he wasn’t to join but full control of the Defense. The Day comes for the players to get on the buses to training camp Boone sees that blacks went on one bus and the whites went on another bus. It annoys Boone tot the point he orders one bus be for offense and one for defense and you must sit by someone of the opposite race. The players do and Boone orders them that they must get to know each other for training camp becomes easier. He then takes them on a long jog to the battle field of Gettysburg and explains the history when black and whites stood together and died for each other and it brings the team together. After camp though their newly formed bonds are testing but survives. However Boone is informed if he loses one game he is fired and Yoast will be the coach again but the team goes 13-0 and wins the state championship. It is revealed that the funeral is that of the former team captain who help bond the team was killed by a drunk driver and the movie ends with them saying their goodbyes to his coffin.
I couldn’t agree more with calling this film one of the better football films and even to this day brought tears to me to see how powerful people can be when we are together as 1. Everything was on point and it was hard to name something I didn’t like. In the end I am calling this a must watched film and giving it a grade of an A!

In Hollywood we know if the movie makes money then there will be a sequel of some sort regardless if it is a true sequel, prequel or even a reboot. Once the film makes money regardless if the story ends we know there will be a sequel. Analyze This was big hit comedy starring Robert De Niro and Billy Crystal and Lisa Kudrow, who most likely reached her peak of popularity because of her show Friends. Not to mention the film was directed by the Late Harold Ramis. the Movie became a hit and grossed nearly 180 million off of a budget that could have been around 50 million give or take. The story of the film seemed to pretty much end it right there. However 3 years later we got a sequel titled Analyze That. The entire cast did return for this film so you would think magic can happen again. Sadly at least according the numbers it did not. The budget was 60 million and the film only grossed 55 million which closed the door on part. Was the movie really that bad though?
Well the plot goes like this, Paul Vitti catches wind that someone wants him dead, despite the fact that he had retired. Knowing that he is no longer safe he decides to pretend go crazy to get out of prison. Making people believe that he has gone crazy because of prison they decide to release him to Sobel, who did diagnose him but no surprise to Sobel soon as they leave prison, Vitti snaps on him with not getting him out sooner. He tells Sobel someone is trying to kill him and he will find out soon. Problem is Sobel is in charge of him and must get him to go 100 percent clean or else Sobel will be charged. Right off the bat things get rocky when Vitti brings his girlfriend over and they have sex but only to argue in the morning when Sobel has guest. Vitti goes through job after job when he uses his gangster approach. However does find a job as an advisor on a mob show. The family that he retired from doesn’t fully believe he is retired and fears that he might want the family back. Old habits die hard because Vitti is planning an heist, it is revealed that another family does want him dead and even his new family boss wants him to be watched like a hawk. Vitti plans go through and they get the gold and even trap some of the other family’s goons for the police to catch. Vitti and Sobel meet up in the morning and decide to part ways as friends and go their own ways.
With the cast returning you would think the comedy would be there, but this time around I caught myself just being annoyed at the jokes and not laughing. When a story ends it is hard to make up a new one, sometimes a new story doesn’t make sense, this was the case with this film. One and done could have been better. I’m not saying this was a horrible film but it wasn’t a good film. In the end, it felt like an average film. Because of that I am giving it a C for a grade.

When this movie came out like 9 months ago I really did want to see it but just got side tracked. At first glance I really thought this film going to be a bomb because it was in the summer and it had kids and I know this film was rated R but in the end you can only do so much with kids. The film did have a fan base from Seth Rogan who helped produced and they advertised the film from the producers of Superbad, Neighbors and Sausage Party, which all were fun comedies tom watch, with Superbad being the best. The question I thought was could this film follow in Superbad’s footsteps. Now we all know that film’s legacy, could this film live up to that film? This was the question that I kept asking myself. The cast was pretty much a bunch of people that no one heard of which was a good thing because it kept the budget down. The Budget was bein reported around 20 million and the film manage to gross 110 million which isn’t bad for that budget. Now I go back to my question if it would live up to the legacy of Superbad. The Budgets and grosses were pretty much the same with Superbad doing better at 170 million and launched everyone into stardom.
The movie follows 3 boys who enter the 6th grade and realize they need to do things they have never done before in order to fit in. These things include kissing and taking a sip of beer. To learn these things the boys start to spy on people to learn how to kiss. But one misstep leads to another and another and the boys must find away out of before they get into anymore trouble. During these missteps the boys begin to question their friendships when they realize they have nothing in common. The only thing they have in common is that their parents are friends and they live close together. After their exciting night ends and they get caught for skipping school and damaging the one boys drone and his house, they all get grounded and begin to go their one ways. One gets into the dating field and has three relationships in a month’s time. The next one joins a group that helps people from bullies and the third one who loves to sings gets to star in a musical. With each friend now in their own groups they reunite for the one’s play and agree that they can be best friends still and be there for the big stuff and then they part ways again only to get on a sex swing together.
The movie use a decent plot with the three kids learning how life works. It gave it a good twist on how the youth go through things and do whatever they think they can to fit in. However this is a comedy and for me some of the humor just wasn’t there. Which when I watch a comedy I do think that the comedy should be there and when it is not then it hurts the film. The Acting was average when it came to the boys because all they had to do was act their age. I don’t thing this film had that Superbad feel to it nor will it have the same legacy. In fact this film might have already been forgotten about. Overall I am giving this film a good B, it would have been higher if their was more comedy to it.

I have to admit I am missing hockey and with my beloved Penguins already basically set to be in the playoffs before this mess even happen, and with the news that the NHL does have an plan and agreement to resume action, I needed to find another hockey movie to enjoy and another fun sequel came to mind. Of course I am talking about D2: The Mighty Ducks. Which was released in March of 1994 and became a beloved hit with fans and even spawn another sequel. Now sadly I was not able to find an budget for this film but the first film was ten million and it made 50 million for a gross. Part two didn’t do bad either and came close to first films gross and that gross was around 46 million. If I would have to put number on the budget I would say around 12 to 14 million, in any case I do believe it made a decent little profit.
Anyway let’s get to the plot. The film picks up just after the offseason when the Ducks won the State Championship and their coach left to be a minor league hockey player which he was so good that he was just one step away as the announcers would say from being called up to the NHL despite only playing one season. However a dirty player decided to ruin Bombay’s career by busting up his knee which ended his career for good. So he returns home to figure out what to do next and that when a sponsor shows up to recruit him to coach Team USA with some of his Duck players and some new talent around the country. The team heads out to Los Angles California where they begin to work as a team and win games. Slowly fame goes to Bombay’s head and he begins to change the way he acts and coaches the team and when he full out changes, the team gets crushed by Iceland which has become the number 1 favorite to win it all. After losing the game and losing his team Bombay begins to find himself and realizes the only way to win is to be himself and so it begins and team USA returns to their winning ways however they meet Iceland in the finals which goes to a shootout and uniform to spark the ducks to win the shootout and game and the team returns home where they enjoy a camp fire which happens during the credits.
I don’t think this film was bad not at all actually. I think the biggest problem was that it felt like the first film all over again and I think that was the biggest problem. Some elements like the timeline with Bombay’s career didn’t make sense like how was he so ready for the NHL. Some of the cast from the first film are missing without being explained. Then at the same time too many of the Ducks were on the team and not so many were around the country. Overall though it was still a fun family film to enjoy if you and the kids are missing hockey like I am and in the end I am giving this film a B plus for a rating!
