Box Office Rundown 12/9/19

By Paul Anthony

Welcome to this week edition of Box office rundown and who took the number 1 spot this week? Well it should be a no brainer that Frozen 2 for the third week in a row took the top spot, in fact the top 5 did not change at all. Number 6 however was a shocker because the film Dark Waters which this weekend was its first weekend in a wide release jumped from 19th to number 6th. Which earned itself the biggest jump of the week. The Biggest loser goes to Playmobil: The Movie which failed to make the top ten. The film barely touched number 14. Now this upcoming week starts the period where things are going to get crazy, this week we have the third Jumanji film titled Jumanji: The Next Level and the reboot of the reboot Black Christmas, then you got Richard Jewell, Bombshell and Uncut Gems.

  1. Frozen 2, 34.67 million
  2. Knives Out, 14.15 million
  3.  Ford V Ferrari, 6.537 million
  4.  Queen and Slim, 6.530 million
  5.  A Beautiful Day In The Neighborhood, 5.2 million
  6.  Dark Waters, 4.1 million
  7.  21 Bridges, 2.8 million
  8.  Playing With Fire, 2 million
  9.  Midway, 1.940 million
  10.  Joker, 1.04 million

Now As I said before this week will begin an interesting period, so here are my predictions on how the box office will look next week.

  1. Jumanji: The Next Level
  2.  Frozen 2
  3.  Knives Out
  4.  Richard Jewell
  5.  Black Christmas
  6.  Ford v Ferrari
  7.  Dark Waters
  8.  21 Bridges
  9. Playing With Fire
  10. Midway

Box Office Rundown

By Paul Anthony

Once again we survived another holiday weekend and once again frozen 2 was reigning supreme at the box office. Frozen 2 went up against Knives Out and won the battle by 58 million. Frozen 2 made around 85 million, well Knives Out made 27 million. Queen and Slim also made the top 5 in its opening weekend with 11 million and here is a shocker. Joker after being in 10th place last week actually moved up to 9th and I predicted it that it would fall out of the top ten all together. Charlie’s Angles took a big step in the wrong direction when it was in 8th place last week and fell all the way to 14th and only grossed 16 million and now lets look at our top 10!

  1. Frozen 2, 85.25 million
  2. Knives Out, 27 million
  3. Ford v Ferrari, 13.221 million
  4.  A Beautiful Day In The Neighborhood, 11. 8 million
  5. Queen and Slim, 11.7 million
  6.  21 bridges, 5.8 million
  7.  Playing With Fire, 4.2 million
  8.  Midway, 3.957 million
  9.  Joker, 2 million
  10.  Last Christmas, 1.980 million

Now usually we would have more then just one major release coming out this weekend but this time we only have 1 and that film is Playmobil: The Movie which is an animation so this will make things a little interesting.

Now here are my predictions for this week Box Office

  1. Frozen 2
  2. Knives Out
  3.  Playmobil: The Movie
  4. Ford V Ferrari
  5. A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood
  6. Playing With Fire
  7.  21 Bridges
  8. Midway
  9. Queen and Slim
  10.  Joker

Now Let’s see how accurate I can be this week!

Box Office Rundown 11/25/19

By Paul Anthony

This past weekend we saw the release of one of the most anticipated animated sequels of all time and it is safe to say when people say that Frozen 2 was going to come out on November 22nd of this year you would think studios would stay away from this weekend but I guess I was wrong, besides Frozen 2 we saw A beautiful day in the neighborhood and 21 Bridges needless to say we know which film came in at number 1 which was frozen 2

  1. Frozen 2, 127 million
  2. Ford V Ferrari, 16 million
  3. A beautiful day in the neighborhood, 13.5 million
  4.  21 bridges, 9.3 million
  5. Midway, 4.7 million
  6. Playing With Fire, 4.6 million
  7. The Good Liar, 3.375 million
  8.  Charlie’s Angels, 3.175 million
  9.  last Christmas, 3 million
  10.  Joker, 2.8 million

Now this week we have two films opening up but they are coming out on Wednesday to get a few days on the Holiday rush but in the end I don’t see that mattering much so here are my top 10 for next week.

  1. Frozen 2
  2. Knives Out
  3.  Ford V Ferrari
  4.  21 bridges
  5.  Queen and Slim
  6. Midway
  7. Playing with Fire
  8.  The Good Liar
  9.  Charlie’s Angels
  10.  Last Christmas

Box Office Rundown 11/18/19

By Paul Anthony

This past week we saw the release of three new films. The Good Liar, Charlie’s Angels and Ford v Ferrari and of the three who took number one? It was no other then Ford v Ferrari which made over 31 million, last week surprised number 1 fell to number 2 beating out newcomer Charlie’s Angels but the totals from number 2 and 3 couldn’t reach our number 1 film. We do have some movies that took a fall and lets go with Terminator: Dark Fate took the biggest fall at 6 spots and in fact it fell out of the top 10 already. Last weeks big name Dr. Sleep took the second biggest fall when it fell from number 2 to number 6 this and with what is opening this week its going to be tough for anyone to make money. Our first R rated billion dollar film Joker still is holding strong and remains in the top ten, this time it is number 8. Now this week once again we have three new films opening this week, Frozen 2, A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood, 21 Bridges. This week gives us a little of everything.

  1. Ford V Ferrari, 31 million
  2. Midway, 8.750 million
  3.  Charlie’s Angels, 8.600 million
  4. Playing With Fire, 8.550 million
  5.  Last Christmas, 6.7 million
  6. Dr. Sleep, 6.181 million
  7.  The Good Liar, 5.656 million
  8.  Joker, 5.635 million
  9. Maleficent: Mistress of Evil, 5.247 million
  10.  Harriet, 4.780 million

Now here is my predictions for this upcoming week, now this will be a tricky week but I am giving it a shot.

  1. Frozen 2
  2.  A Beautiful Day in the neighborhood
  3. Ford V Ferrari
  4.  21 bridges
  5.  Midway
  6.  Playing With Fire
  7.  Last Christmas
  8.  The Good Liar
  9. Maleficent: Mistress of Evil
  10.  Joker

Box Office rundown 11/11/19

By Paul Anthony

It has been a few weeks to be able to say this but now it is true that we do have a whole new top 4 and all the movies that open this past weekend all reach the top 4 spots. However Dr. Sleep was predicted to be number 1 and once again another big time film with the budget of 50 million failing to make it’s budget back in it’s opening weekend. Now this week’s number 1 was a film that was barely promoted and that film was Midway, however with it being Veterans day it would make sense that people would flock to see a world war two movie. Playing with Fire starring John Cena and Last Christmas rounded out the bottom 4, Last Christmas gave me a shock to see it that high because many critics were not enjoying, so let’s take a look at the rest of the top ten.

  1. Midway, 17.5 million
  2. Dr. Sleep, 14.1 million
  3.  Playing With Fire,  12.8 million
  4.  Last Christmas, 12.6 million
  5. Terminator: Dark Fate, 10.8 million
  6. Joker, 9.2 million
  7.  Maleficent 2, 8 million
  8. Harriet, 7.23 million
  9.  Zombieland: Double tap, 4.315 million
  10. The Addams family, 4.2 million

Now I have to guess this might be the week that the Joker film gets knocked out of the top ten but barely. this week we see three new films enter the mix and they are Ford v Ferrari, Charlie’s Angels and The Good Liar. Here are the predictions for this upcoming week!

  1. Ford v Ferrari
  2.  Charlie’s Angels
  3. DR. Sleep
  4.  The Good Liar
  5. Playing With Fire
  6.  Terminator: Dark fate
  7.  Last Christmas
  8.  Maleficent 2
  9.  Midway
  10.  Zombieland: Double tap
