Box Office Rundown 2/24/20

Here we are new week and new predictions, last weekend we saw the release of The Call of the Wild which stars Harrison Ford and CGI animals, which is funny because I think we had another movie using CGI animals and a big name actor. The Movie was going up against the surprise hit Sonic. The biggest question is could Sonic hold the number one spot with many predicting that Ford’s movie would come in at number 1 and the winner is Sonic The Hedgehog. The Call of the Wild came in a close second only lost out by two million. Even though Sonic is the repeat winner we do have some losers this week first we have Fantasy Island which went from three to 7th and the biggest loser is The Photograph that went from number 4 last week to number 10 this week. And now the rest of your top ten!
- Sonic The Hedgehog, 26.300 million
- The Call Of The Wild, 24.820 million
- Birds Of Prey, 7,005 million
- Brahms, The Boys 2, 5.900 million

Box Office Rundown 2/17/2020

Welcome to this holiday weekend edition of Box Office Rundown and the first to feature Sonic as the number 1 movie. Now I am sure Sonic will be repeating it’s success next weekend as well. Sonic may have taken the number 1 spot but no one thought it would run away from the pack like it did. Usually when a movie gets delayed it never a good thing but in this case it turned out to be a great thing. Birds of prey came in a at distant number 2. Sonic wasn’t the only film to debut, we had The Photograph and Fantasy Island debut as well as Downhill. I didn’t think much of Downhill or the Photograph but I thought Fantasy Island would do a little better than it did. Sure it came in at number 3 but this year hasn’t been kind so far to horror films which is bad news for Brahms: the Boy 2 because that film has no hype around it. Now this upcoming week we have Harrison Ford’s movie The Call of The Wild on top of The Boy 2, once again we will be having an revolving top ten but here is the current top ten.
- Sonic The Hedgehog, 57 million
- Birds Of Prey, 17.115 million
- Fantasy Island, 12.4 million
- The Photograph, 12.270 million
- Bad Boys For Life, 11.305 million
- 1917, 8.090 million
- Jumanji: The Next Level, 5.7 million
- Parasite, 5.500 million
- Dolittle, 5.050 million
- Downhill, 4.671 Million
Now Sonic was no doubt the winner but here are the losers, Dolittle and The Gentlemen dropped 5 spots with The Gentlemen falling out of the top ten. Now here are my predictions
- Sonic The Hedgehog
- The Call of the Wild
- Birds Of Prey
- Brahms: the Boy 2
- Fantasy Island
- The Photograph
- Bad Boys For Life
- 1917
- Jumanji: The Next Level
- Dolittle
Box Office Rundown 2/10/2020

Welcome back to another week of where we find who made it to the number 1 spot and who came up short. This week we saw the release of Birds of Prey which as predicted debuted at number 1. However the problem is the numbers were underwhelming with barely making it to 34 million but with international numbers which saves a lot of movies to worldwide gross came to around 81 million dollars. Another winner in my eyes has been Knives Out this movie last week was out of the top ten only to be back in the top 10 and been in the top ten for most of it’s box office run which started at the end of November. We can’t have winners without Losers though only one of these two films are actually an loser both Gretel and Hansel and Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker fell three spots though both remain in the top ten. This week will no doubt shake things up a bit because we have three new movies joining the box office with one being a big name. We have Sonic the Hedgehog which is predicted to be number and then you have Fantasy Island and The Photograph. 2020 hasn’t been all that kind to horror films so it will be interesting to see how well Fantasy Island will actually do.
- Birds of Prey, 33.250 million
- Bad Boys For Life, 12.005 million
- 1917, 9 million
- Dolittle, 6.660 million
- Jumanji: The Next Level, 5.553 million
- The Gentlemen, 4.180 million
- Gretel and Hansel, 3.510 million
- Knives Out, 2.350 million
- Little Women, 2.325 million
- Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, 2.226 million
Predictions
- Sonic
- Birds of Prey
- Bad Boys for Life
- Fantasy Island
- The Photograph
- 1917
- Jumanji: The Next Level
- The Gentlemen
- DoLittle
- Knives Out

Well, to say last weekend was a slow weekend would be an understatement. Here we have another weekend of movies where the new films just underperformed and couldn’t make it into the top 3. bad Boys once again came in at number 1 which wasn’t a shocker. The war movie 1917 keeps on hanging in there with coming in second place. Now here is the film that keeps remaining in the top 5 but yet is a flop and that film is Dolittle which has managed to get 126 million worldwide. The losers of the weekend is The Turning, which fell two spots, then you have Gretel and Hansel which came in at number 4. Then there is the true loser which is the film The Rhythm Section which debuted at number 10 wow. Cats even did better than that but let’s look at the rest of the top ten!
- Bad Boys for Life, 17.675 million
- 1917, 9.660 million
- Dolittle, 7.700 million
- Gretel and Hansel, 6.050 million
- The Gentlemen, 6.010 million
- Jumanji: The Next level, 6 million
- Star Wars: The Rise Of Skywalker, 3.193 million
- The Turning, 3.050 million
- Little Women, 3.015 million
- The Rhythm Section, 2.800 million
Now here is What I predict next week will look like!

Welcome to the second edition of this blog series in the new year and now that the year has kicked off with basically one new film a horror film and a reboot. I predicted to be the number fourth film of the top ten. Star Wars The Rise of Skywalker once again took the number 1 spot but it is starting to lose steam in fact most of the films of last month are now losing steam and this upcoming week, we have 4 new films aiming to make it in the top ten but will they? I predict all four will but Under Water will barely crack the top ten. This week we don’t really have a winner, which someone who moves up a good amount of spots most of the top ten stayed pretty much intact. We do have some losers but barely, both films dropped two spots and that is Frozen 2 who went from 3 to 5 and Cats who went from 8 to 10. Now Let’s look at the top ten shall we?
- Star Wars: the Rise of Skywalker, 33.739 million
- Jumanji: The Next Level, 26.500 million
- Little Women, 13.575 million
- The Grudge, 11.300 million
- Frozen 2, 11.291 million
- Spies in Disguise, 10.081 million
- Knives Out, 9.025 million
- Uncut Gems, 7.826 million
- Bombshell, 4.075 million
- Cats, 2.6 million
Here are my predictions!
- Star Wars The Rise of Skywalker
- Just Mercy
- Like a Boss
- The Grudge
- Jumanji: The Next Level
- Frozen 2
- Spies in Disguise
- Under Water
- Little Women
- Knives Out
