Academy Awards Winners are!

Here we are again another award show honestly the biggest one of the season and to say it was a dud would be an understatement. Every year it does seem like that this show does take a hit. They went without a host and jokes went over people’s head and the speeches were predictable and there were enough of weird moments and the crowd was basically falling asleep, well I was but then a surprise performance by Eminem which woke the crowd but if you missed the show here are the winners of this years Academy Awards!

Oh man did you miss one hell of a show if you didn’t watch the golden globes last night. Mostly all these shows will talk about the dresses and clothes the actors and actresses blah blah, now I will get to the winners in a minute but what is the internet talking about? Well basically the host Ricky Gervais jabs at well pretty much everyone at the award show. I have to admit I do praise him for being honest with the famous actors and actresses. He came out and said don’t come up here with your own agenda about saving the world because your not doing crap, he bashed the writers and critics for not nominating for woman and minorities which once again he had a point. Hands down good hosting on his part, heck even Beyoncé not standing for Joaquin Phoenix, when his name was announced for Best Actor, I am sure she had a good reason, I have yet to see the film so I can’t say rather he deserves it or not but let’s look at the winners!

Box Office Rundown 12/9/19

Welcome to this week edition of Box office rundown and who took the number 1 spot this week? Well it should be a no brainer that Frozen 2 for the third week in a row took the top spot, in fact the top 5 did not change at all. Number 6 however was a shocker because the film Dark Waters which this weekend was its first weekend in a wide release jumped from 19th to number 6th. Which earned itself the biggest jump of the week. The Biggest loser goes to Playmobil: The Movie which failed to make the top ten. The film barely touched number 14. Now this upcoming week starts the period where things are going to get crazy, this week we have the third Jumanji film titled Jumanji: The Next Level and the reboot of the reboot Black Christmas, then you got Richard Jewell, Bombshell and Uncut Gems.

Once again we survived another holiday weekend and once again frozen 2 was reigning supreme at the box office. Frozen 2 went up against Knives Out and won the battle by 58 million. Frozen 2 made around 85 million, well Knives Out made 27 million. Queen and Slim also made the top 5 in its opening weekend with 11 million and here is a shocker. Joker after being in 10th place last week actually moved up to 9th and I predicted it that it would fall out of the top ten all together. Charlie’s Angles took a big step in the wrong direction when it was in 8th place last week and fell all the way to 14th and only grossed 16 million and now lets look at our top 10!

Friday RoundAbout 11/22/19

Welcome to another exciting addition of Friday Roundabout where we look at some stories that we didn’t cover during the week. So why waste time let’s look at some stories, now this one actually came out last Friday and that is That on November 15th 1989 a little channel launched and that was Comedy Central. We know that this channel launched some famous shows that we fell in love with. These shows includes South Park which is currently still going strong, then you had the very popular The Man Show, Reno 911, The Daily Show with Jon Stewart and The Colbert Report. these shows no doubt made Comedy Central a hit and even though the torch has been passed today shows will never live up tp the first thirty years but Congrats to Comedy Central.
Back in May HBO’s Hit show Game Of Thrones ended and many people were not happy with season 8 though the writing was on the wall to see twist that was coming but now it is being revealed that the crew did film an alternate ending that they did for fun. Now Kristofer Hivju revealed this news but said he couldn’t say anymore about it. There is no doubt I believe him but there is a good chance that we will never see this unless the demand is so overwhelming when the box set comes out.
We now have our first R rated billion dollar film and it was nice to see history happen however when you make a billion dollar off a 60 million dollar budget no matter what the story is you know a sequel will happen. Right now Joker 2 is so called now in the works but the details are still up in the air because Todd Philips who directed Joker actually got access to film two origin films of D.C. villains one of course was Joker now there no doubt that Warner Bros might want both another Origin film and a Joker 2 film but time will tell as to what we will actually get.
Now Here is something that is truly funny and that we all know we are entering the streaming war where everyone has their own streaming service now PornHub has announced they want to get in the act of streaming as well, which isn’t a bad idea but outside of just more porn which a lot of people get for free what else can they do?
Apple is now making more then just phones and computers, we know they have their own streaming service as well and as they march towards having their own movies and shows they did encounter a setback and have suspended the release of their movie the banker because there are sexual abuse allegations surrounding one of the producers of this film which sounds pretty good and it stars Anthony Mackie and Samuel L Jackson and Nicholas Hoult. Until this situation clears up, we wont be able to see this film sadly.
Of one the famous Star Wars characters is Darth Maul who at first seem to died in Episode 1 when he was introduce but people loved the character back that Star Wars shows found ways to bring him back even though his stories seem to have skipped all around the timeline but now many are saying it is time for him to have his own movie or show which now with Disney plus it would most likely to be a show and finally give us his full story which we know he dies in rebels. This still just a rumor and nothing has been confirm just yet.
Box Office Rundown 11/18/19

This past week we saw the release of three new films. The Good Liar, Charlie’s Angels and Ford v Ferrari and of the three who took number one? It was no other then Ford v Ferrari which made over 31 million, last week surprised number 1 fell to number 2 beating out newcomer Charlie’s Angels but the totals from number 2 and 3 couldn’t reach our number 1 film. We do have some movies that took a fall and lets go with Terminator: Dark Fate took the biggest fall at 6 spots and in fact it fell out of the top 10 already. Last weeks big name Dr. Sleep took the second biggest fall when it fell from number 2 to number 6 this and with what is opening this week its going to be tough for anyone to make money. Our first R rated billion dollar film Joker still is holding strong and remains in the top ten, this time it is number 8. Now this week once again we have three new films opening this week, Frozen 2, A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood, 21 Bridges. This week gives us a little of everything.

Box Office rundown 11/11/19

It has been a few weeks to be able to say this but now it is true that we do have a whole new top 4 and all the movies that open this past weekend all reach the top 4 spots. However Dr. Sleep was predicted to be number 1 and once again another big time film with the budget of 50 million failing to make it’s budget back in it’s opening weekend. Now this week’s number 1 was a film that was barely promoted and that film was Midway, however with it being Veterans day it would make sense that people would flock to see a world war two movie. Playing with Fire starring John Cena and Last Christmas rounded out the bottom 4, Last Christmas gave me a shock to see it that high because many critics were not enjoying, so let’s take a look at the rest of the top ten.

Box office Rundown for November 4th

Here we are in another week of looking at the numbers and as predicted Terminator: Dark Fate came in as number 1 but the numbers are way below what everyone was expecting and worldwide totals it still fell way below its 180 million dollar budget, coming in around 120 million with most of that coming from the foreign market. Joker remains in it’s spot at number and Harriet came in at number 4, one higher then I predicted.

Box Office Rundown!10/28/19

Welcome to another week of looking at the numbers over the weekend and once again we have new number 1 film and once again it is the R rated film Joker which is still going strong with many people believing this could be the first R rated film to reach a billion, the verdict is still out on that because the next few weeks the road gets a lot tougher. Disney’s movie Maleficent 2 is barely trending water and this could be a lost for the Mouse in the long run so let’s look at the rest of the top ten!

Friday Roundabout 10/11/19

Welcome back where we look at some stories you might have missed so without wasting time let’s get right to it. Kevin Hart has been covered a lot because of his accident that with how it is described he was very lucky to be a live, and his career was thought to be over and no longer the same as it once was, Though the accident was still bad which required him to have back surgery. Now Kevin wasted no time and got right back to work, when he went out on the promotional tour for his upcoming film Jumanji The Next level, which comes out later this year in December. I love Kevin Hart and to see him coming back this fast is nothing shy of awesome.
This next story really only popped up on the radar because his movie is a big hit and is number 1 and is predicting to remain at number 1. Joaquin Phoenix was recently in a accident involving a paramedics truck. Basically there really isn’t much here, witnesses and everyone including Phoenix himself said he basically missed judge the amount of room he had when he was pulling out and the truck just had a scratch on with his vehicle took the most damage, everyone was okay of course and they exchanged information and Phoenix isn’t facing any charges. Pretty much end of story.
Today The Charlie Angels reboot released another trailer. When the first trailer came out I have to admit I really wasn’t into this movie but now the second one is out and well basically I am slightly closer to saying I might go and see but I am still not sold on the film. I like the cast minus Kristen Stewart, but who knows she could shine in this film. The Movie is about a month away still, if they want to shine they really have to give us a little more before it is all said and done.
Terminator: Dark Fate runtime has now been revealed and it will be over two hours long at 2 hours and 14 minutes. We don’t know what story they are going to tell in this film, we do know the old crew is back in this film to give us a a good third film that we never got, though besides the last film, I thought the movies were good but never on the same level as part 2. I do hope this is the perfect amount of time to tell this story and I also hope all the hype is worth it on this film.
We are in the month of October and the Halloween franchise is back in full swing and we know we are just a year out when Halloween Kills comes out and more and more details are coming out and the next big detail we got is that Charles Cypher is returning to the franchise. If you don’t know him, I’ll help you out, he played Sheriff Leah Brackett in Halloween and Halloween part 2 but his character hasn’t been seen since then. We don’t know the details of how big his role is in this film but we will find out!
