Monday Numbers! 10/21/19

By Paul Anthony

After a week off to move the office to a new location, I am back at the blogs and like any other Monday, I am back looking at the numbers. This past weekend we had Zombieland 2 and Maleficent 2 go up against Joker and with 3 big names in the game who would come out on top? Well let’s look at the numbers!

  1. Maleficent: Mistress of Evil at 36 million
  2. Joker at 29.2 million
  3. Zombieland 2 : Double Tap at 26.7 million
  4. The Addams family  at 16 million
  5. Gemini Man at 8.5 million
  6. Abominable at 3.5 million
  7. Downton Abby at 3 million
  8. Judy at 2 million
  9. Hustlers at 2 million
  10. It Chapter 2 at 1.5 million

Now I don’t see Fridays’s new opening films really making a impact. The Horror film Countdown could crack the Top 5 at best but here we go

  1. Maleficent: Mistress of Evil
  2. ZombieLand: Double tap
  3. Joker
  4. Countdown
  5. The Addams family
  6. Gemini Man
  7. Abominable
  8. Downton Abby
  9. It Chapter 2
  10. Hustlers

With it being October I do see It and Countdown keeping the fort down with the horror movies, with this being the final weekend before Halloween, they should get a good boost from the fan base.

Box office Rundown Vol. 2

By Paul Anthony

This weekend was a big box office weekend both in the terms of Money and Controversy because we saw the release of the film called Joker. Which serves as a some what of a origin story of the famous Batman villain the joker. The film came in at number 1 and had everyone talking about it both in a good way and bad way with security being heighten and people walking out yet more people stay and this film even has some Oscar talk being attached to it.  So here are your numbers for this weekend farther by predictions for this week to come.

  1. Joker, 93 million
  2. Abominable, 12 million
  3. Downton Abby, 8 million
  4. Hustlers, 6.3 million
  5. It chapter 2, 5.355 million
  6. Ad Astra, 4.557 million
  7. Judy, 4.445 million
  8. Rambo, 3.550 million
  9. War, 1.581 million
  10. Good Boys, 900k.

This coming week is a very interesting because we got some big hits opening this week which include The Adams family, Gemini Man and Jexi. Here are the predictions

  1. Gemini Man
  2. The Adams Family
  3. Abominable
  4. Downton Abby
  5. Jexi
  6. Ad Astra
  7. It Chapter 2
  8. Hustlers
  9. Rambo
  10. War.

Box office rundown Vol 1.

By Paul Anthony

Welcome to another new weekly series from Smash Writing, in this series we will review the weekend box office, the top ten that is and then make a few predictions for the next week and then see how we did the following Monday so without further a due, let’s get started.

In this week we had 3 big films opening and can you guess which one came in first,  here are the three Downtown Abby, Ad Astra, Rambo the Last blood, which one took the top spot?

Downton Abby =  31 million

Ad Astra = 19.2 million

Rambo The Last Blood= 19 million

It: chapter 2 = 17.245 million

Hustlers = 17 million

The Lion King= 2.5 million

Good Boys = 2.510 million

Angel Has fallen = 2.4 million

Over comer = 1.5 million

Fast and Furious Presents Hobbs and Shaw = 1.46 million

The biggest shocker here is Rambo failing to make number one, when this film had the most hype coming into this box office weekend but now how does the top ten look for next week? here are my predictions

I do predict we will have a new number one with animation film Abominable

  1. Abominable
  2. Downton Abby
  3. Ad Astra
  4. Rambo
  5. It Chapter 2
  6. Hustlers
  7. The Lion King
  8. Good Boys
  9. Angel Has Fallen
  10. Fast and Furious Presents Hobbs and Shaw.

Now this is where the box office will get slow before we head into the next big film which will be Joker. I guess we have to wait until next Monday to see if this proves to be true or not!
