Saturday Sequel Presents The Crow: City of Angels Review

By Paul Anthony

In some ways this film was hard to watch and review because it makes you wonder the what ifs. I mean I have to ask what if Brandon Lee didn’t die on the set of the first film and could have returned for the sequel if indeed that was the goal for the series, but we may never know at this point. The first film was a success though it had other problems besides Lee’s death, it still was able to become a sleeper hit, which meant that sequel would be on its way. When the sequel got the green light, the studio made it clear that they wanted to this to be much different than the first film, basically it seemed like they wanted everyone to forget what happen with Lee. Now this film unlike the first film had no source material like the first which was based on the comic book series of the same name and we got another lead character which would be a theme throughout the series. In this film the Crow AKA Ashe Corven would be played by Vincent Perez. The film had a budget of 13 million and became a slight hit when it managed to make 25 million which was 25 million less than the first film. Nevertheless it made money but was it better than the first film?

The location of this film now takes place in Los Angeles, unlike the first film which takes place in Detroit, we also know this film takes place years after the first film because the only returning character from the first film is Sarah which she is now adult. In this film a father and son is killed when they witness crime, their bodies are dumped in the river. At this point Sarah gets a visit from a Crow, in which she follows the crow to the river where she gets to sees Ashe’s resurrection and his frantic escape, though she catches up to him and informs him that the power of the crow brought him back to life so he can get his revenge on those who did this to him and son. Slowly but surely Ashe understands and begins to get his revenge killing off the guys who killed him one by one. We learn these people are the henchmen of Judah Earl. Judah is a drug kingpin who when realizes someone is after him seeks out a blind prophetess whose name is Sybil who tells him everything about the crow and Ashe. Judah learns he can kill the crow which stripes Ashe of his powers but Judah also learns he can gain those powers from the blood of the crow and that is his plan. He kidnaps Sarah to draw out Ashe and the crow and he kills the crow and drinks his blood. Ashe and Sarah are forced to fight Judah as regular humans though they still managed to win but at the cost of Sarah dying to her injuries, the film ends with Ashe completing his mission and dying because now he can rest in peace with his son and Sarah.

Okay let’s start with the acting which seemed to be over the top. I don’t know if that was the bad acting or the script itself. The Sarah character was a miss fire because since she is a main character we needed to know why she came to Los Angeles so worth so more character development was needed, I guess you say the same for Ashe as well. The dark tone was just a little too much for my liking, everything seem to be on a more bible level just felt so odd and with no source material it felt that they were just making stuff up as they wrote the film. I believe the only reason why this film made money was because of the success of the first film. In the end I am giving this film a D for a grade, who knows maybe the next film will be better.

Royal Rumble 2021 Predictions

By: Justin Hopkins

It is the most magical time of the year. Better than any holidays or celebrations or even Wrestlemania itself, it’s the Royal Rumble. That greatest stipulation match. Pitting thirty wrestlers against one another and anything and everything can happen. From surprise entrances to heartbreaking eliminations. Circus like performances to stave off eliminations, all in the hope to be the one to point at the Wrestlemania sign, and this year is especially difficult to predict. Doing such a good job building a several potential winners in both Rumbles and to a point, that is both exciting and terrifying. With some really exciting choices, yet the building sense of grief of them picking someone who could royally torpedo the entire Road To Wrestlemania before it even begins. So, lets dive in and try to predict the Royal Rumble Card shall we.

WOMEN’S TAG TEAM CHAMPIONSHIP – Nia Jax and Shayna Bazler vs Asuka and Charlotte Flair

We will start with the one that doesn’t matter. They have put less than minimum effort to make these titles feel special. Asuka is double champion who has almost nothing to do and Nia Jax is a constant concern that she will injure her opponent, but I am still going to pick Nia and Shayna because putting the belts on Charlotte and Asuka was a mistake to begin with and maybe they book in a good story. This really should have gone with the Riott Squad.

Winners and new Women’s Tag Team Champions – Nia Jax and Shayna Bazler

SMACKDOWN’S WOMEN’S CHAMPIONSHIP – Carmella vs Sasha Banks

This has been a fun little rivalry, and we got to see Reginald show off a bit of his Circus roots and something small for Sasha to do following her rivalry with Bayley and Carmella is a lot better than most people give her credit for. I do expect Sasha to retain her belt in what should be a pretty solid match.

Winner and still Women’s Champion – Sasha Banks

WWE CHAMPIONSHIP MATCH – GOLDBERG VS DREW MCINTYRE

Drew… For the love of everything, Drew.

Winner and still WWE Champion – Drew McIntyre ( Seriously, do no put the belt on Goldberg.)

UNIVERSAL CHAMPIONSHIP – KEVIN OWENS VS ROMAN REIGNS

I would love to see Kevin win this one. he has been so good on the build up to this and deserves another run with the belt, but I don’t see it happening here. Not at the expense of Roman Reigns, who has saved himself from the never ending void of terrible booking and made himself WWE’s biggest villains. I expect these two to just kill one another and when it seems that they will both be counted out, a returning Jimmy will hold Roman up on his feet. Making the family whole.

Winner and still Universal Champion – Roman Reigns

WOMEN’S ROYAL RUMBLE

This one I think is going to be more tricky to predict. Tend to pull from the legend and alum pool to fill out the numbers. It’ll probably kick off the show. I think that Bianca will be the Ironwoman of the match and will be the one to inevitably be the one to knock out the “Monster” Nia Jax, but will be knocked out by Bayley and while she is celebrating, will be eliminated by Charlotte. It’ll come down to Charlotte, Rhea, Shayna and Raquel Gonzales, with Rhea waling away the winner.

Winner – Rhea Ripley

MEN’S ROYAL RUMBLE

This can be a lot of fun and completely nightmare fuel and the fact they can control the crowd reaction with a button is what makes this scary. Would love to see Randy get number one, upset by the early entry and get even more angry when number two is Edge, but this will go out the window when they reveal the number one and two are announced on Backstage on Saturday. I expect this to be a lot of fun and wouldn’t mind seeing Brock come back for it, but could this be the year. The year I never thought would come. the year they finally give the Swiss Superman the recognition that has been long overdue. May not be the smart choice, but I have to believe that this will be the year of Cesaro.

Winner – Cesaro

While WWE has been a wild ride of some massive highest and ugly lows. Can put it all aside, for the best PPV on the calendar and I can’t wait to see what happens at this year’s Royal Rumble. As always, I hope you enjoyed and….

Thanks For Reading.

One Night In Miami Review

By Paul Anthony

It is hard for me to start this review off any other way but to say wow to this film. this could be a film of the year for me candidate. When you have a movie that the characters are Jim Brown, Sam Cooke, Malcom X and Muhammad Ali, then it better be a good film and sure enough it was. It is crazy already praise the film so early in this review but there is a lot to talk about. First I didn’t know this was an actually play and I didn’t even realize this was an fictionalized meeting of these legends. The film was directed by Regina King which marks her first feature film as an director, then the screenplay was written by Kemp Powers which he based it on his play. The film stars Kingsley Ben Adir as Malcolm X, Eli Goree, Aldis Hodges as the Great Jim Brown and Leslie Odem jr as Sam Cooke.

The film starts in 1963, here we see a young Muhammad Ali who was still going by Cassius Clay being over confident and getting knocked out, we then see Sam Cooke have an humiliating performance at the Copacabana in front of an all white crowd. Jim Brown returns home and see’s an old family friend who is white and embraces him kindly, though Brown offers to help move furniture but gets denied to come in the house because he black. We then move onto Malcolm who returns home and informs his wife that he wants to leave the nation of Islam. We then skip to 1964 where Clay wins the title and Malcolm plans a little get together with the four of them to celebrate the victory. But when the four of them get to the hotel Malcolm reveals that he only invited them so they could reflect on their accomplishments. Though as the night moves on Malcolm and Cooke begin to disagree with the way they see things in their success and add insult to injury in this feud Clay reveals he might have second thoughts about joining the nation but everything comes together and the group comes together and supports each other. Brown retires from football to become an actor, Cooke being inspired by the argument writes a great song that he performs on the Tonight show Clay joins the Nation of Islam and Malcolm completes his autobiography and leaves the nation though his life turns to worse because of it and the film ends.

First the acting was on point, I felt the emotions of the characters that I was watching, the dialogue went perfect with the scenes that we got to watch. This film told a powerful story and because of that story we didn’t need any special effects or graphics or even over the top action. Each scene left you waiting for the next one and each sentence did the same thing. In the end I have to give this film an A plus for a rating and label it as a must watch film!

Disenchantment Season 3 Review

By: Justin Hopkins

**SPOILERS**

This season actually caught me off guard. Just everything going on, missed it till it debuted, which is good thing actually. Avoided any potential spoilers and trailers, which I normally despise anyways. They tend to give away to much information, and with a show like Disenchantment, that I have thoroughly enjoyed since the debut in 2018. Going in blind is the best way to go in my eyes. and now that I have, lets dive in an discuss the newest chapter in Disenchantments.

Synopsys

The season starts where we left off. with Bean, Luci, and Elfo at the bottom of the pit, surrounded by creatures being lead by her Mother, Dagmar, who claims that she doesn’t have anything diabolical planned and wants to start over. Bean isn’t buying it, but has to play along for the time. Meanwhile, back in Dreamland, believing she is dead, and Zog on his deathbed. Odval and Archdiocese, are using Derek to flip the Kingdom into what they want it to be, through Derek who is just doing what they wanted. Zog , isn’t dying though. Just going to give himself up to Pendergrast, who can’t kill him. Agrees to help him escape in a coffin, but Pendergrast is killed by the Archdruidess and buries Zog alive. While, Bean discovers that Dagmar is lying to her. Is captured trying to escape and locked away with Leavo. They make it out, without Leavo and she tries to tick the Trogs by dressing like Dagmar and almost gets away with it, but Zog who was incidentally saved by the burrowing Trogs. Before they get their hands on them, they run in front of crystals and is uncovered to be their Saviors. Forcing Dagmar to retreat and they got out. Returning to Dreamland, where Zog was reinstalled as the King, but he is slowly losing his mind due to his time spent buried alive. Doesn’t even remember what Odval and the Archdruidess did to him, but Tiabeanie has some suspicions, which are heightened by finding Pendergrast’s body. Finds a gun in Ordval’s office, but at the wedding, The Archdruidess is ousted as the murderer, and escapes. Leaving Bean and Elfo to chase her down. Leaving Luci to stay behind to take care of Zog, and where I will leave it for now.

REVIEW

This show just keeps getting better. The story moves quick and keeps you hooked throughout. Building up questions and suspense throughout. What is with the Secret Society, Family Curse, The Archdruidess and Steamland the constant threat that is Dagmar, while creatively bringing back things from the past, like Big Joe and The Ogres from the first episode and their grudge with Elfo. Weaving jokes throughout that had me laughing from the jump, with episodes packed with emotions, like you would come to find from a Groening project and all done perfectly.

The characters are still just a blast. Whether, it’s going back and forth with her Mom, opening up with Mora or trying to be there for her Dad and Dreamland, Tia remains the best part of the show, which is impressive with the likes of Luci around. Love seeing Bean continue to grow as a character while maintaining what makes her fun. Way she takes charge and takes on the world head on, but when the pressure is on, still suffers from Self-Doubt. Still seeking her place in the world. What started out as amusing descent into madness with Zog turns sad as it becomes clear that he isn’t just going to shake it off.

They got so many questions and situations building almost have to treat them as a topic of their own and we got to start with Dagmar, who is turning into a fantastic antagonist. The end of bringing Bean to be married to what appears to be a demon may have come across as a massive shock, but she mentioned a Demon Debt that was overdue in Season two’s opener. Always feels like a legit threat when she appears and wonder if she is hoping from one prophecy to another or if she keeps circling back to the same one and keeps manipulating Bean back to where she needs her to be, in a long con? What happened in Dreamland and the elves and the curse on the family? Everything about Odval and we still haven’t learned who is Elfo’s Mom, but have a feeling by the end that we are about to find out and got Luci in heaven and Bean being able to utilize magic and who is the broom woman? It seems like a lot, but they have done a great job in building up all of them and am in anticipation of where they are going.

The voice acting is incredible as always. Abbi Jacobson is fantastic as Bean and could listen to her and Sharon Horgan’s Dagmar argue with each other for an entire season and not get tired of it. Meredith Hagner was a fun addition of Mora and hope that she comes back at some point. Just everyone involved though, knocks it out of the park. You got Nat Faxon and Eric Andre who know there characters so well and capture them so well. You got legends in the form of Billy West, John DiMaggio, Maurice LaMarche and the Queen Tress MacNeille and so many others all just did great work. Round of applause to everyone involved.

I don’t really have much in the way of negative things to say. My complaints from season 2 were jokes that went to long and Elfo, but neither of them were problems here. Jokes were great and Elfo was fun and character had a lot of depth here. Small complaints might be that it would have been nice to see a bit of a good ending, since it’s the third bad ending for the trio and wouldn’t have complained about something being answered, but it definitely got me hooked for a fourth season.

This is getting an A Plus from me. This was a great addition to a what has been an overall great show and one that I could easily recommend to anyone. Just checks all the boxes for a show I want and can’t ask for anything more.

As always, I hope you enjoyed and…

First Fallout 4 playthrough discussion (Fionna Run)

By: Justin Hopkins

I never really got into Open World games. Having the tendency to go toward more linear style games or real loose open world ones. It wasn’t until a year or two ago when I started going back and playing some open world ones and games like Fallout 3 or New Vegas and even then stayed away from 4. Most of the people I knew tended to talk down on it and that kept me away until my tenth run through of New Vegas when I just got bored enough to give it a go, but I went into it with a little different. Normally, I jump into a world and just make random decisions based of off spur of the moment thoughts. Never really embracing the RPG aspect of the game. Going into Fallout 4, a game I had very little knowledge of, decided to do so, by playing as the blue Sim in so, so many thumbnails. Why, a few reasons actually. Having using Fionna on the page for nearly 2 years and thought it might be interesting to put a little bit of character for Fi on the page. Things are slow and like doing different things from time-to-time. Plus, can do a proper discussion on what seems to be a mixed reviewed game in the process. So, with that said, lets dive in shall we.

Playthrough

PicsArt_01-12-03.22.02.jpg

The game started like all games do. Designing the character to be as close to Fionna, before the bombs started dropping and getting Frozen, seeing Shaun being Kidnapped and let loose on the world. Being pointed toward Concord and ran into everyone’s favorite, Preston Garvey and helped them to Sanctuary. Helping rebuild her hometown and doing settlement runs during which she is distracted by The Brotherhood Of Steel. Helped them get their tech back, but after hearing them out, knew she wasn’t helping them anymore. Saying goodbye and went back helping with Settlements. Getting an offer about the Castle, but after hearing about the Castle, knew she didn’t have the ammo to deal and held off and headed toward Diamond City. Where she met her first companion, that wasn’t Dogmeat, Piper. Amused and inspired by her plight and happy to take her along. Saving Valentine and started on the road to take out Kellogg. Whom she eliminated with glee and went on a wild adventure through his memories which she largely ignored, he did kidnap her baby, didn’t care for his sob story. Getting the mission Glowing Sea, but didn’t go right away. Instead she opted to find the Railroad everyone talked about. Helping them in their missions and side missions to become besties with the companions that she met. Exchanging Piper for Cait. Cait for Valentine. Was having a blast during the Silver Shroud Missions when disaster struck and she couldn’t save Kent. With a heavy heart and tears in her eyes, Fionna hung up the costume and turned her focus to the Glowing Sea. Mixture of fighting and running till she found Virgil. Agreeing to do what he wanted and after her time spent in the Railroad, gladly hunted down the Courier, but before we could make the Relay, She turns her ire to the Mechanist. The robots are chewing through the .50 caliber bullets and keep attacking her settlements. What should have been an easy fight turned into a nightmare thanks to a Bethesda Bug and took way to long, but with the robots nullified, time to infiltrate the Institute and learned the shocking revel that Shaun became Father. Which put her on edge, but Fionna played nice. Working both sides, being nice and meeting Patriot. Unsure of what she should do. Taking a minute to go clean up Far Harbor and hearing of Raiders in Nuka Cola, which she painstakingly eliminated all of them, cause if anyone was going to be in charge of a Theme Park, it was going to be her and wasn’t sharing with Raiders. Back in the commonwealth, she ended up in Vault 81 and became friends with Curie and made up her mind, she would back the Railroad and destroy the Institute. She played nice, despite her murderous urge to kill Shaun. Getting things in line, removed the Brotherhood and it was finally time, but first, she went back to Sanctuary and swapped Currie for Piper. Someone who fought to expose the Institute. Only seemed right to have her for the end. When the Infiltration began, made sure to send out the alert to clear out the innocent, shot Shaun on the way by and set up the bomb, sending the Institute up in a fiery explosion. There wasn’t much left in the post, did most of the Missions and Settlement builds during breaks from the main story. Only major one was ruining the experiments of Vault 88. After that, it was time to sit back, with Piper and Dogmeat. Discuss what could happen in the new world. The potential team of Minutemen and Railroad. Synth knowledge of their time in the Institute can make new tech and use their knowledge to build a whole new world with everyone prospering.

Why the Railroad

PicsArt_01-12-03.23.55.jpg

Before we get into my thoughts on the game, figured I would start with the big question, Why the Railroad? Really had to think about how Fionna acts and operates along with the lore me and a friend of mine have created behind her and.. was pretty difficult to place Fionna. Fi is very split in her personalities. Wants everyone to have a good time. Doesn’t care for labels, or genders or anything. If you can think and have emotions and try your best. She considers you a friend and willing to share anything to make the world better, but cross her and has no problem running through you. When she sees something she wants, will continue to circle back to it until it is hers and Proud Parent of many of her own. So, 4 factions, would help the Minutemen, for desire to help and dream of them building statues in her honor when she leaves, but wouldn’t think they got the might to hold onto the Commonwealth. Wouldn’t tolerate the Brotherhood hording tech that can help, nor take an order from Maxson. Leaving the Railroad and The Institute and it was a challenge. The Railroad do fight for a good cause that no one else seem to do, while giving her the feeling that she is a secret agent fighting against the Big Evil, but she would be impressed by what her Son had created and want to support him for being her child despite the evil that he created. Would be torn between the two until she realized all the Synths are theoretically hers. Being made by Shaun’s DNA which is her own. Her Friends, Valentine and Curie and so many other depending on Fi to make the choice. Which is why I believe Fionna would side with The Railroad. With the Institute gone, they could unite with the Minutemen and build from there.

Discussion

PicsArt_01-12-03.23.07.jpg

Know I have talked a lot, so I will make this quick. I had a blast playing Fallout 4. It was different then most Fallout Games, and I get the reason why my friends didn’t like it, but pretty sure that is what I liked about it. Getting to build up world in the way you choose. Whether they are forced to serve the greater good of the Brotherhood or Raiders of Nuka Cola or just rebuilding the new world. Not to mention gave a reason to the junk we picked up, which was so nice. Companions were so much fun. Liked that you had to make them your friend before they would tell you their stories instead of just passing things that triggered it. Sure some could cause you to act in ways you aren’t playing like, but you don’t have to bring them along. Fi didn’t deal with X1 and Sent Strong to Red Rocket early. Leaving them for future gameplay. The side quests for Cait and Valentine felt genuinely awarding when you helped them and was amusing seeing Currie learn about the world and becoming a Synth. Loved the DLCs for Nuka Cola and Far Harbor. Both giving a lot of fun missions and ways to break up the Main Story. Would love to say that about the Mechanist, but the Bethesda Bug really made that part a nightmare. Even after finishing, eagerly restarted as someone new, because I felt like there was so much left to do.

Before I finish off, want to give credit to the excellent Mods that I used throughout my playthrough and the hard workers behind them. Aloots’ Home Plate, Demon Hunter Female Armor by NCRRanger5x, Everyone’s Best Friend by Valdacil, Lots more female Hairstyles, by Recluse, Steampunk Gunslinger Outfits CBBE and Bodyslide by Elianora and Nuka Tech Rad Bans which I unfortunately couldn’t re find to give credit for, but found them all on Nexus Mods. Thank you to everyone who made these awesome mods.

This was much more weird then normal. Promise the normal reviews to come. To those who did make it through, I hope you enjoyed and as always…

Mara Movie Review

By: Justin Hopkins

**SPOILER WARNING**

Alright first B Movie Sunday of the year. Wanted it to be last week, but movie I picked was a particularly bad one and didn’t want to start off on a bad foot. So, I pushed it back another week. Good, bad or in between whatever movie I picked was going to be what I ran with today, and movie chosen was the 2018 Mara. A sleep demon who kills people with Sleep Paralysis. Seemed like an interesting premises and wanted to see what the movie was all about. So, lets dive in and see what this movie has to offer.

Synopsys

The movie starts with a little girl named Sophie, being awaken by a sound and scared by the open closet. Sneaking out of her room and toward her parents when a she hears a woman screaming, coming from the bedroom. When she reaches for the door handle, the door flung open and her Mom comes rushing out. Screaming for her to not look and we see her Dad’s lifeless body twisted in knots. After a bit of an opening sequence. We jump to Forensic Psychologist Kate, waking up, going about her daily routine, before getting the call to come to the crime scene. Detective McCarthy wanting her expertise on whether or not the Mother was going to be committed. When she fails to get the Mother to talk, goes to talk to Sophie. Who is with her Grandpa. She is hiding under the bed, before he leaves says he thinks it was Dougie. Meanwhile, Sophie says it was someone named Mara. When Kate takes this to the Mother, she flips and starts to scream. Calming down at the station, saying that they had argued over him having an affair and that she was going to get a divorce. When they fail asleep, she woke up and saw Mara, the Sleep Demon kill him. This was all the Detective needed to hear and it is up to Kate whether she is going to a mental institution or be arrested. After a night, she makes the choice to have her committed and that night, she experiences Sleep Paralysis and sees Mara. Which gets her to relook over the evidence and finds the name Takahashi. Going to his house only to find him dead in the same way that Sophie’s Dad was. She tries to talk sense into the Detective that this had to be the same person that killed him, but he isn’t going to do anything without evidence. Leaving it up to her to investigate and learn just who Mara is and that is where I am leaving it for now.

Review

Starting off, I really enjoyed the performance by Olga Kurylenko as Kate. Really making me care about her plight. Trying to do what is right by Sophie and her Mom and then Dougie when it became aware that he was next. Can fill her building terror, but was still selfless when Mara was coming after Sophie. Olga did a great job from beginning to end. Same with Craig Conway as Dougie, someone who evolved from someone dislikable to extremely sympathetic. He wants to help, but is riddled in fear of his own. Not wanting to die and dragged down by the lack of sleep and worked really well off Olga. And kind of wish we got to see more of Melissa Bolona. Carly was a pretty good character.

You hear people talk about terrifying experiences that they had during Sleep Paralysis and many have seen demons. So using it to make a story over a specific demon was a solid idea with a lot of room to play with. Having some real tense scenes and did like how Mara looked and moved.

Unfortunately, that rounds out my positives. I don’t normally like picking out the logic holes in movies. Just go with the flow and let the story play out but there were two big ones that I can’t really ignore. Starting with the least nitpicky one, and that is the death of Sophie’s Dad and the fact that it couldn’t have been Carly who did it, like physically couldn’t have done it. Which would not be this much of an issue, but Kate makes this same argument after the death of Takahashi. They even have two other suspects in Dougie and whoever he had the affair with. They don’t even bother talking to Dougie until the third death. I get that they are going for no one believing in Mara, but there is a line between characters acting logical in the face of supernatural and just being dumb, and they pass this line way to many times in this movie.

Now, Mara is awaken by a tragedy and when she has been awaken, is driven to people who carry around guilt and the guilt here is… thin to say the least. I guess that is where they were going for.. maybe. I mean, they did Sophie right. Sophie felt guilty because she talked to Kate and got her Mom committed, which to a kid would be a thing. Dougie killed two during his time in the war, by accident during what sounded like a battle, in which he was defending his squad. Carly felt guilt over breaking up her family with a divorce and Husband was guilty over the affair. Only two who actually sounded like they were guilty on something big was Takahashi and maybe Saul. Kate’s big guilt was… either getting her committed or not listening to Carly which lead to her death. The twist option so they could end on the death of Kate. A horrible decision in my opinion. Could have had her go eye to eye with Mara and accept the mistakes that she made and own it, which absolved her and ended on a listen, but no.

I don’t want to start the year off with a bad review, so I am going to do something a little different. I wouldn’t suggest this movie. Outside of some good performances, there was nothing much here for me to enjoy, but if you like demon movies and are generally freaked out by the concepts of Sleep Paralysis. Then you might be able to enjoy Mara, just don’t go in with exceptions. As always, I hope you enjoyed and….

Saturday Sequel presents Jeepers Creepers 2

By Paul Anthony

In August of 2001 we saw the release of Jeepers Creepers and the film though was simple became a hit, the film starred a young Justin Long and Gina Philips. The film which is in the genre of Mystery-Horror Monster film was a hit when it grossed nearly 60 million dollars on a budget of 10 million dollars. The film told us the story of a brother and sister traveling home during spring break through Florida when they start to be chase down by a old box truck, turns out this wasn’t just some random person but a creature who on every 23rd spring for 23 days eats human parts and make them his own parts and the Creeper which is its name picks his victims through fear and this time he wanted a pair of eyes but with the film making money we all knew a sequel was coming. Just two years later in August of 2003 we got the sequel. Here the movie takes place just days later which was a good thing because we really didn’t some future movie that would kill the series like a Jason X. The film had a higher budget but not by much it went from 10 million to 17 million which was understandable. You had a bigger cast this time around and needed a little more graphics. Only two people returned for this film and that was Jonathan Breck as the Creeper and Justin Long made a cameo. Like always we have to ask was this film better then the first one? Like always lets talk about the plot first.

Here we start the film on day 22 of the same spring as the first film when we get to see the Creeper back in action this time he kills a young boy in front of his family on their farm. We then move to day 23 with a school bus full of high school basketball players celebrating with the fact that they won the state championship but soon they blow out a tire but manages to keep going down the road until they blow out another tire that forces them to stay park and anyone who has a cellphone doesn’t have service, they do their best to call for help on the CB Radio but soon the creeper starts to basically pick on them, it is revealed that he threw homemade weapons to blow out the tires. Sure enough he picks them off one by one though they do some pretty good damage to his as well but he keeps on coming after them. Just when hope seems to be lost Jack Sr and jack jr the family from the farm shows up with a homemade Harpoon to kill them but just as it seems they could the Creeper’s time runs out and goes into Hibernation before it bleeds out saving it’s own life. The film ends the when we a see a pickup truck carrying teenagers to a farm and we learn that its Jack Sr and Jack jr’s farm and it has been 23 years or close to it and they been selling photos of it calling it a Bat from hell and we last see Jack SR waiting with his harpoon and tells the teenagers that he’s waiting for it to awake which should happen in a day or 2.

Now I have to say the film wasn’t better or worse than the first film, basically it was on par. what hurt this film was the audience knew and saw too much of the Creeper already, we knew what he was and what he wanted, we knew all the facts and what film could have done was give us more details about him but they didn’t. the main cast of students had no real character to them, they just seemed to be there, actually all the cast seem to be that way. The acting was okay, no one stood out in this film, plot was predictable which most horror films are. In the end I am giving this film a C for a rating though it didn’t stand out , it wasn’t bad either.

Tanya Roberts Tragedy

By Paul Anthony

It is tough being a celebrity because you no longer have a private life, people will watch your every move and report every step even if it means giving out wrong information about you. One of the biggest questions of the week was when did Tanya Roberts truly pass away, by now we know the answer which she passed away on January 4th which the media confirmed the next day but reports earlier said she had passed on January 3rd. We also know it was on her manager who reported the bad news despite not actually getting the exact word and just assuming. It was sad messy situation regarding someone’s life and how did we get to this point?

We know she was on a hike on December 23rd 2020, where she started to suffer pain and have difficult breathing and on Christmas eve she fell out of bed and could not breath, there she was taken to the hospital where she was put on an ventilator. Now due to the pandemic no one was able to see her. Her partner Lance O’Brien was invited to the hospital for the end of life visit in which he told her manager he was going there to say good bye and the manager took that as she was already gone but that wasn’t true. O’Brien had clear things up that she was being taken off of life support. I hope this opens the eyes of many managers that they need to get the correct and accurate information before they release any private information like this. Now many or some might be asking who is Tanya Roberts?

Well Roberts was an actress born as Victoria Leigh Blum, her career basically started in the earlier 70’s when she was doing commercials and made her film debut in 1975 in a film called Forced Entry. By 1980 she starred in the hit series Charlie’s Angles when she replaced Shelley Hack. Through the early 80’s she was in mostly B- Movies like The Beastmaster and Sheena: Queen of the Jungle, which sadly she was nominated for a Razzie for worse Actress. But By 1985 she was cast as a Bond Girl in A View to a Kill. This might have been her peak in the films but her Tv career was still going good and even stronger when she got the role of Midge Pinciotti in That 70’s Show, which she played the character for 81 episodes. her career may have ended in 2005 when she retired but she was slowing her pace before that to help take care of her husband which she married him in 1974 to 2006 when he passed away.

It has been confirmed that Roberts fell ill to a UTI that entered her organs and blood stream which also caused her to have a blood infection which was made worse due to her history with hepatitis C. She passed away at the age of 65. she was survived by Lance O’Brien, she didn’t have any children but our hearts and prayers go out to her family
